#noDAPL -- some ways to help

Following our class discussion today, some students asked, "How can we help?"

Dallas Goldtooth of the Indigenous Environmental Project was kind enough to share the following list.:

1. Contribute to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s fundraiser by clicking here

2. Call or Email your Congressional Representative or Senator. You can use this page to find out who they are and how to contact them.

3. Call or Email Denis McDonough, Chief of Staff to the President and Jo-Ellen Darcy, Assistant Secretary of Army Corp of Engineers. Tell them to rescind the permits granted to Dakota Access:

Due Tuesday Oct 25: Quarter One Service Reflection

Need another copy of the guidelines and rubric?  Link here.

Note: it says "see below for examples" regarding creative component on the handout - and there...aren't any! Thanks for bringing that to my attention, Claire.

The creative portion is open-ended; it could be one detailed illustration (colored pencil drawing, watercolor, photography); a graphic-novel-style page telling the story of your service experience; a short video; a mini-poster calling your peers to action; even a song*- just some way of creatively expressing your experience in addition to the traditional written essay.

*Last year, Sten wrote and recorded a hilarious 1 minute song about babysitting during late-start days. Another student turned in a 4x6 watercolor illustration with each essay... just some ideas..
